What controls consent for Approved Email?

Sarah Jones, a field user for Verteo BioPharma has just wrapped up a productive call with Dr. Clinton Ackerman. She wants to follow up by sending him clinical data on Natevba. Before she sends the email, she checks Dr. Ackerman’s account for which mode of Approved Email consent he has. There are two modes:

  • Implicit Opt In – By default, the account is opted into Approved Email and field users can send emails without capturing opt-in consent
  • Explicit Opt In – By default, the account is opted out of Approved Email and field users can’t send emails until they capture opt-in consent

Because Verteo BioPharma requires explicit opt-in consent for all accounts, Dr. Ackerman’s Approved Email Consent is set to Explicit Opt In.

Sarah navigates to Consent Capture from his account and sees that he has not opted into the Natevba product for Approved Email. That means she needs to capture opt-in consent from him before she can send the follow-up email about Natevba clinical trials.

What if Dr. Ackerman’s Approved Email Consent was Implicit Opt In?

In that case, he would be opted in to all Approved Email communications by default and Sarah could immediately send the email. However, he could still explicitly opt out of emails about specific products.

For example, let’s say Dr. Ackerman once received an email about Labrinone and decided to unsubscribe using the link included in the email. An opt-out record tied to his account, his email address, and the Labrinone product is automatically created in Vault CRM, preventing field reps from sending him any more emails about Labrinone, but not emails about other products. This level of granularity means a single unsubscribe doesn't shut down all your digital outreach with that HCP.
