What are the different ways to confirm consent with an HCP?

There are two ways to confirm consent: in person or remotely.

In-person confirmation includes capturing a paper consent ID or a signature (mobile only) on the user’s device, while remote confirmation involves sending a confirmation email to the HCP, allowing them to confirm from their own devices. With remote confirmation, the consent status is Pending until the HCP confirms their consent from the confirmation email.

Confirmation emails are also used for double opt-in, which satisfies compliance regulations requiring HCPs to verify their email addresses when giving in-person consent to receive email communications. See Using Double Opt-In for more information.

For example, field user Sarah is meeting Dr. Ackerman in his office. Let's see how she confirms his consent in-person.

Next, Sarah has a remote meeting with Dr. Adamson. Let's see she confirms consent remotely.

By default, consent confirmation is only required when users capture opt-in consent. However, requiring signatures for opt-out can be configured. See Requiring Signatures for Opt-Out for more information.
