How do I configure WhatsApp Business Messaging in Meta?
WhatsApp Business Messaging is configured in two applications, first in Meta, then in Vault CRM. We’ll use our company, Verteo Biopharma, to help us understand how this is done.
Setting up WhatsApp Business Messaging in Meta
Before Verteo Biopharma can do anything in Vault CRM, Verteo’s Meta admin must complete the following steps in Meta:
-
Create a Meta Business Portfolio - Verteo Biopharma needs a business portfolio to organize and manage their Meta assets from a single place.
-
Set up a WhatsApp Business Account - Inside the business portfolio, the admin creates a WhatsApp Business Account. This account serves as the central hub for all of Verteo Biopharma’s messaging operations, including phone numbers and message templates.
-
Verify Phone Numbers - Verteo must use a dedicated phone number. The admin enters a code from Meta to verify this number and sets its public display name to Verteo MSL Team, which HCPs see in their WhatsApp app when they receive a message.
-
Create Meta-approved message templates - The admin then creates and submits message templates to Meta for approval. These templates are required to initiate conversations in WhatsApp Business Messaging as per Meta’s rules.
