How can I prevent users from selecting certain Call Channels?

To be sure users only select the right Call Channel options, make certain channels unavailable.

Help users make the right choices

Let's say your company has a new policy against using chat or text to contact HCPs. Some users are still accidentally submitting call reports with the Chat or Text, or Other Call Channels selected. Your company asks the CRM admin to find a way to keep users from creating call reports with these unapproved channels.

Restricting unapproved channels is important for a couple of reasons:

  • Gives users a visual reminder to avoid using chat or text
  • Prevents users from creating inaccurate call report data
  • Helps avoid compliance issues from users meeting with HCPs over unapproved channels

When Call Channels are restricted, you cannot select the wrong Call Channel

With Restricting Call Channels, you can choose to restrict any or all of the following channels:

  • Email
  • Chat or Text
  • Other

The admin restricts the Chat or Text, and Other channels for your company's users.

You cannot select a restricted channel. Restricted channels are grayed-out to provide a visual reminder not to interact with HCPs over those channels.

End result: clean data, happy users, and happy admins

Now that the Chat or Text, and Other Call Channels are restricted, not a single user has submitted a call report with the wrong Call Channel selected. Users are happy because it’s easy to see which channels to avoid. Plus, because it’s impossible to select an unapproved channel from the call report, your company’s data is clean and accurate. Business users and admins at your company are happy too!

Things to consider

  • Restricting, deactivating or modifying any value in the Call Channel picklist other than Email, Chat or Text, or Other is not supported
  • For accurate data, all other picklist values are reactivated on a monthly basis
